Here we are 2025. Happy New Year: plus two examples of our artwork.
From Barbara – my crafting and artwork continues as I attend a group twice a month at our local Loughton church. I mostly do dry-air clay work. At home I do colouring using books with themes of patterns, mindfulness, Iona. I’ve always especially enjoyed colours and textures. Sometimes I used these interests when I taught, in church groups, and (years ago) with materials and sewing. Now I find the colouring challenging as I make choices and work through various options. It is also deeply relaxing as the task is so absorbing. A friend gave me some watercolour pencils, so watch this space.
From Tony – I decided to do a drawing to start 2025 and put my ‘lettering’ to the test. In school days I recall the struggle to combine freehand and measuring. Here the year date is backed by fire which is, you might say, both life-giving and threatening. The arrow speeds into the future and has many complex lines that are human and neural networks. There are three humans: one climbing, one dancing, one flying. And we have an orange frame. So, Happy New Year from both of us.
